Suffolk Food Developments

Suffolk produces outstanding food. Now let's make sure our farmers and growers have the local markets, opportunities and recognition they deserve.
There are two current initiatives we encourage all farmers in Suffolk to get involved in:
Suffolk Food Charter
Suffolk FWAG has been a strong and active member of the Suffolk Food Partnership committee for the past three years, championing the vital role of our farmers and growers in building a thriving, sustainable local food economy.
We are delighted to share the newly launched Suffolk Food Charter, which puts local food production, stronger supply chains, sustainable farming and greater demand for Suffolk produce firmly on the agenda.
This is about more than a Charter. It's about turning ambition into action — creating real opportunities for farmers and growers of all sizes, strengthening local markets and ensuring Suffolk agriculture is at the heart of our county's food future.
Suffolk Food Summit
At: The Food Museum in Stowmarket, Mon 16 November 9am - 3.30pm
Celebrating Local Food – Building Resilience – Improving Health.
Hosted by Mid Suffolk District Council
The Suffolk Food Summit 2026 brings together the people, organisations and communities who shape our local food system. Hosted by Mid Suffolk District Council at The Food Museum, the summit is a full‑day opportunity to celebrate local food, explore the challenges facing Suffolk’s food resilience, and collaborate on practical, place‑based solutions.
Food resilience means different things depending on where you sit in the system. For some, it’s about coping with extreme weather, droughts, floods or heatwaves. For others, it’s about disease outbreaks affecting crops or livestock, supply chain disruptions, rising food prices, or the viability of farming and food businesses. Whatever the perspective, these issues are deeply connected — and strengthening resilience benefits everyone.
